Floating Element
(engl. = bewegtes Linsenglied) Bei der Einstellung auf kürzere Entfernungen ändert ein Objektiv mit "floating element" neben dem Auszug auch die Lage von Linsengruppen zueinander, während bei konventionellen Objektiven das Objektiv als Ganzes um den Auszug verschoben wird. Durch diese Maßnahme wird dem Abfall der Abbildungsleistung im Nahbereich entgegengewirkt, und der Korrekturzustand für einen größeren Umfang an Abbildungsmaßstäben erhalten. Hauptsächlich findet man "floating elements" in Makro- und Superweitwinkelobjektiven.
